For the past 55 years, we have built a rich history in Southwest Georgia. Originally AGE Credit Union, we opened our doors in 1955 as a federal credit union serving employees of the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. Since becoming HeritageBank of the South in 2005, we have been blessed with substantial growth. Innovative products and services coupled with an insightful management team and caring staff have given HeritageBank of the South the wherewithal to prosper and grow.

We took our first step outside of our hometown and joined the Ocala, Florida community in 2008. By 2009, HeritageBank operated two branches in the Ocala market and one in Lake City, Florida.

We purchased The Tattnall Bank from the FDIC in 2009 and began servicing the communities of Reidsville and Collins. We found our style of community banking to be a perfect fit for the area and quickly purchased additional branches in Statesboro, Baxley, Hazlehurst and Adel.We also opened a loan production office in Valdosta.

Early in 2011, we purchased Citizens Bank of Effingham from the FDIC. This acquisition provided four branches located between Savannah and Statesboro—Springfield, Port Wentworth, Guyton and Rincon. Despite our growth, we haven’t lost sight of our mission. We are a hometown bank serving hometown communities. And, we will continue to grow in the best interest of our customers and shareholders.
